Influenza is a relatively serious infection that is a cause of morbidity in hundreds of thousands of people in the Czech Republic every year, resulting in unnecessary deaths. The highest incidence is reported in schoolchildren and young adults; the death rates are highest among the elderly. Currently, influenza is one of few viral infections that can cause a difficult-to-manage pneumonia and/or even lead to sudden death. The circadian system provides an endogenous daily programme for the entire organism and may fulfil even the role of a calendar. It is an integrating system: it encompasses a central clock and clocks in peripheral organs which are coordinated and synchronized by the central clock. At the same time the circadian system depends on its environment and is periodically entrained by surrounding stimuli, mostly by photic ones. The discipline which studies the role of time in biology, the so called chronobiology, covers mostly the circadian rhythmicity and affects many branches of theoretical medicine like physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology,...

The past 20 years have recorded great changes in the reconstructive surgery of the female pelvic floor. These changes primarily resulted from viewing the pelvis as a whole, a perspective which has been based on detailed anatomical studies whose purpose was not only to describe various pelvic structures but to look at them in a broader sense as a structure of functional interactive components. While the focus of modern methods is on determining exactly the damaged structures, it subsequently concentrates on making attempts to recover their function, whenever possible, by mini-invasion. Today, in order to perform successful surgeries and to achieve...
