Význam kolonoskopie pro současnou praxi

Kolonoskopie je vyšetření tlustého střeva flexibilním endoskopem. Slouží k detekci změn v oblasti konečníku, kolon a mnohdy i terminálního ilea. Metoda je rozhodující v záchytu karcinomu kolorekta, střevních polypů, nespecifických střevních zánětů apod. Umožňuje nám oproti jiným metodám odebrat ze střeva bioptický materiál. Využívána je i terapeutická kolonoskopie, kterou se provádí endoskopická polypektomie, dilatace stenóz střeva, mukozektomie apod.
