Geriatrická křehkost - významný klinický fenomén

Článek podává informace o klinicky významném konceptu geriatrické křehkosti, postihující asi 7 % seniorů, a o jí podmíněných geriatrických syndromech. Tento koncept umožňuje lepší klinický popis a lepší zdůvodněnost medicínského intervenování starých lidí – geriatrických pacientů, u nichž rychlost a intenzita funkčního zhoršování i míra jím podmíněných důsledků překračují běžné involuční změny, aniž by byla přítomna vysvětlující choroba. Je zdůrazněn rozdíl mezi fyziologickým stárnutím a patologickým rozvojem křehkosti vztaženým k nepřiměřenému poklesu potenciálu zdraví. Jsou uvedeny hlavní klinické diagnostické markery, zásady intervence a literární odkazy.
