The clinical diagnosis of urticaria is straightforward; it is the identification of the causative factors that may be difficult. The paper
presents the diagnostic procedures used in the aetiopathogenetic diagnosis of, in particular, acute urticarias and angioedema that are
encountered by general practitioners. Also, an overview of medications currently used for the treatment of urticaria is provided.
